The pool tournament had a great turn out and was a great success. Austin NHI raised a total of $1314 with over $700 in donations totaling to over $2000. The money used will be put towards scholarships and other needs to benefit the Austin YLC team.
Special thanks to all who the people who put together this great event and volunteered their time especially Hostess NHI alumni Cristina de la Garza with Assistance from Mike Diaz, Adell Cruz, Jaime Gonzales. Also volunteers Ricardo, Alex De La Pena, Estefania , Isis, Juedon , Kristal, Shiquita and the bartender who all contributed to making this event a success. Also a thanks to the families and sponsors who donated items to the Raffel and Silent Auction. Lastly a congratulations to Antonio and his dad who both competed in the pool tournament. Estefania De Leon competed in a UIL Journalism competitions with great success and is Chief Editor for the Crocket High school newspaper.
Wimberley Meet 1st-place news writing and 5th place speech writing Del Valley Meet 1st place news, 3rd feature writing, 2nd editorial writing, 3rd place headline writing Christine Spinks contributed to the first place win of the Lockhart High school Speech and Debate team at a tournament in Burnet County. Natalia Villarreal won first place in the district meet for girls wrestling at Bowie High school Austin YLC will be hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the tuition of our incoming freshman.Come Join us March 6th at Slick Willie's on burnet road for the hottest billiards competition around. The competition will be Standard 8-ball BCA Rules double elimination with the chance to play Austin's very own pro pool player Christina De La Garza and Kim White. There will be a raffle and silent auction and food available. $15 donation at the door.This is an all ages competition so bring your friends to raise money for a good cause. Cross Examination Rachel Miguel and Chang Lee Mock Trial Alex De La Pena and Salvador Gutierrez November 12 Both teams received their topics and are currently hard at work preparing November 13 Chang and Rachel won their first round with a score of 57/60 and 56/60 and were ranked in the top 18. They continued to succeed winning their second round. They will be competing in ajudication tomorrow. Alex and Salvador had a close call in both their first and second rounds. They fought hard till the very end but unfortunately were unsuccessful. Tomorrow they will be working hard in ajudication. November 14 Ajudication rounds and Award Ceremony Christina= extempt, Estefania= oratory and Kristal& Rachel= cross examination. All rounds with * are rounds that are wins. Austin YLC Team:
