Xemumba Fest is an annual World Music Festival that features music of Latin America. This year the third annual Xemumba Fest was held in East Austin at Kenny Dorham's Backyard. The Austin NHI was a beneficiary of the 2009 Xemumba Fest and also provided the volunteers for the event. Thanks go out to Bemba Entertainment for hosting and including Austin NHI.
Austin YLC Banquet 2009
After the long "season" and Great Debate, the YLC participants are rewarded with an end of year banquet. In 2009, the Austin group of participants, parents, coaches and sponsors pulled together a lovely soiree at The Penn Field Plaza on South Congress. Students were recognized for their efforts by coaches and parents alike for their successful efforts. Most of all, there was great food, karaoke and a live DJ. Work hard, play hard.
Texas Great Debate 2009
Here are some photos of the Austin YLC Team and coaches at the Texas Great Debate 2009.The Texas Great Debate takes place at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Students/participants compete in one of four debate events: mock trial, cross examination, extemporaneous speaking and oratory. After all the hard work, students always have a blast and make memories that impact them long after The Great Debate is over. As you can see from these photos, Austin participants shine in both talent and spirit.
